As with so much of the Android ecosystem, the official channels often feel a little laid back, as if Google cares more about having fun with its electric cars than making the best mobile OS.
So it was that the news there are now 100,000 apps live on the Android Market was reported via a short and to the point tweet.
Zone of uncertainty
App tracking website AndroLib reckoned the total had been reached in July, although that was based on submissions rather than live and active apps. Back then, it also put the daily submission rate at 17,000.
Of course, compared to the 300,000 apps available on Apple's App Store, Android has some way to go.
But the success of the Angry Birds' launch suggests that despite its jumble sale atmosphere, there's plenty of money and mindshare to captured.
