Long highlighted and anticipated, finally RIM has enabled in-app purchases within content on the BlackBerry App World store.
Announced back in September 2010, and since made available in the BlackBerry Payment Service SDK, BlackBerry App World has now rolled out a v2.1 update enabling games and apps to offer additional content for additional purchase.
This year's business model
The system supports RIM's standard 70:30 revenue split, and billing options such as operator billing using Bango, and credit card and PayPal are available as supported by the local App World.
Ironically, it's happened on the same day as Google has announced similar features for Android.
RIM says developers will be able to register and manage their virtual goods through the BlackBerry App World Vendor Portal and a reporting feature enables you to track purchases and payments.
