Given the wealth of talent that heads straight for GDC each year, it's not surprising many companies use the conference as a base for something of a recruitment drive.
However, when scores of your competitors are looking to tap up that very same talent, the question of how you make your firm stand out from the crowd is a pertinent one.
OpenFeint's somewhat creative solution is to encourage people to look to the skies.
The game network has linked up with Facebook studio CrowdStar to use what's described as 'aerial advertising' in a drive to catch the attention of attendees in a way a standard booth simply can't manage.
Headhunting
With OpenFeint looking to recruit 30 new hires in engineering, marketing and operations, the firm has opted to fly "we're hiring" banners over the skies of San Francisco on the afternoons of both March 1 and March 2.
It's a move founder and CEO Jason Citron believes will plant OpenFeint in the more than able minds of attendees throughout the course of GDC.
"2011 is all about recruiting the best and brightest talent we can find," said OpenFeint founder and CEO Jason Citron.
"Let's hope attendees look up from demoing games on their phone to look at our message and visit our career both."
Of course, the very notion that the skies are now just are a valid PR tool at GDC is likely to garner as much attention for OpenFeint as the banners themselves.
Expect some equally ambitious stunts replies by the firm's competition come GDC 2012.
