In a year when it acquired ngmoco for $403 million, Japanese social gaming powerhouse DeNA (TYO:2432) has announced net sales in 2010 of $1.38 billion up from the $517 million it posted in 2009.
The year was closed by a record breaking quarter for the firm, with net sales coming in at $393 million in Q4 2010, up 67.5 percent from the same period in 2009.
In all, it's the sixth consecutive quarter DeNA's revenue has been up year-on-year.
Going for goals
The company has also revealed that quarterly profits also rose by 90 percent year-on-year to $114.14 million, with annual profits coming in at $388.93 million.
"DeNA has met, if not exceeded, every goal we set for the company," said CEO Tomoko Namba.
"We are very pleased and proud of our exceptional year in sales. Our diverse catalog, market expanding strategies and dedication to leadership in technology has fuelled our global growth.
"We are looking forward to making our social mobile platform for games, Mobage, truly global in the coming year."
Mobage momentum
Growing Mobage is key to DeNA's continued success, the company states.
DeNA expanded the number of games for the network to 1,000 last quarter, it revealed, largely thanks to its open platform strategy designed to entice third-party releases.
Having unified the Mobage brand in Japan and the west (a full roll out expect in the coming months), China is the next new market on the company's check-list, with the company stating such growth will deliver an operating income of $2.4 billion by 2014.
