Having launched its first game Pocket Legends alongside iPad in 2010, US mobile MMOG company Spacetime Studios has since continued to build out its vision of a seamless single-server experience.
It launched its second title Star Legends in August 2011, since adding support for Android and - most recently - Chrome Native Client within the Spacetime engine that runs both games.
The result is that someone in the US on iPhone 4S can now play against a Frenchman on a Xoom tablet and a Japanese Chrome user.
Secret sauce
Indeed, such is the importance of this ability to run games cross platform in this manner that a plan to commercialise the engine for third parties has been dropped.
"There have always been technical walls between players of different platforms," commented Gary Gattis, CEO of Spacetime Studios.
"Now, people are free to play on the device they choose with anyone, anywhere, anytime, whether they are at home or on-the-go."
Spacetime claims Pocket Legends and Star Legends: The Blackstar Chronicles as the world's largest mobile MMOs with more than seven million downloads and a million play sessions weekly.
