The Steam app obviously won't let users play their PC and Mac games on their mobile devices, but it will allow them to chat with other friends as part of the Steam community.
It'll also provide access to the Steam online store, keeping consumers up-to-date on current prices and promotions.
Any content purchased through the app can then be downloaded through the desktop client.
