Japanese electronics firm Fujitsu is planning to launch a range of smartphones and tablets in Europe.
Such a launch would be the first move Fujitsu has made into the European smartphone market, although the company currently enjoys roughly 20 percent market share in Japan.
Futjitsu's smartphone range will equipped with NFC for contactless transactions, and as a security measure, will feature biometric technology. Essentially, your Futjitsu phone's PIN is your fingerprint.
The phones will also work with LTE networking technology, allowing for fast mobile internet where available, and will run either Android or Windows Phone, depending on the handset.
Global Product
According to Robert Pryke, the sales director overseeing Fujitsu's European mobile business, the company had already begun talks with networks about adopting the range, which will apparently be tailored for European customers, rather than repackaged Japanese handsets.
"The Japanese market has been in a silo from a technology and design perspective, but Fujitsu is bringing out a global product," he said.
The Japanese firm is hoping to gain a "double-digit" market share within the next three to five years.
