Nokia's latest Symbian handset, the 808 PureView, has been named as a the best device unveiled at this year's Mobile World Congress at the Global Mobile Awards.
The handset, which boasts a 41MP camera, was revealed during the Finnish giant's press splash at the exhibition, taking pride of place alongside the firm's Windows Phone range.
Back in the game
"These are first signals that we are executing against our strategy, that we're back," said Nokia's EVP of smart devices, Jo Harlow.
"It's a fantastic award because it signifies that consumer experience counts.
"It's about tech, but its about how tech is used to make a consumer have a fantastic experience. The imaging is fantastic; the audio is fantastic; the navigation technology is fantastic."
Nokia's C3-00 was also named as best entry level phone at the awards, while Korean rival Samsung took home device manufacturer of the year, with the Samsung Galaxy S II also branded the best smartphone.
On the tablet front, Apple's iPad 2 was picked as the "unanimous choice" for top honours, with Apple's device having "defined the market and dominated sales" over the course of 2011.
