Amazon will launch at least two tablets in 2012, including the widely rumoured 10-inch Kindle Fire, reports Digitimes.
Citing its usual 'industry sources', Digitimes suggests a July launch for the 10.1-inch slate, which will apparently be priced in the region of $249-$299.
A new 7-inch model is expected to ship towards the end of Q2 2012, carrying a price tag of $199, and replacing the current Kindle Fire, which has the same price and proportions.
Fire in the hand
But there are apparently two additional tablets for which Amazon is soliciting quotes, one of which is an 8.9-inch model. Pricing concerns and consumer confusion mean this Kindle may not see the light of day, however.
Finally, Amazon may be investigating the possibility of bringing an even cheaper 7-inch tablet to market, priced at $169.
But VentureBeat speculates $169 could simply be a new selling price for Amazon's current, and soon to be usurped, Kindle Fire in much the same way that Apple reduced the iPad 2's price after the new iPad launched.
