As we discovered when we interviewed CEO Joel Goodman, making mobile games based on card-based and tabletop games is a niche business.
However, it's a niche with an extremely committed fanbase, as the activity numbers from the publisher reveal.
It's seen one million online multiplayer sessions of its iOS deck-building title Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer, which is based on a physical board game from Gary Games.
The total was amassed in nine months.
Ready for the next million
To celebrate, Ascension's price has been dropped to 99c, and full size expansion Storm of Souls - available as IAP, but actually a complete new game - has been announced with a May release.
This will add new Trophy Monsters to hunt as well as new game mechanics.
"Thanks to our fans and their overwhelming response, we have now reached this huge milestone of one million Ascension games on our servers," commented Goodman.
"We are proud that the players are loving Playdek's iOS version of Ascension," added Justin Gary, CEO of Gary Games.
"One million games played is an incredible accomplishment. The response to Ascension has shown us that there is a hunger for well-executed core games on iOS."
