"We were excited with the quality, creativity and diversity we saw in the submissions we received for the Games Competition," said Activision's VP of external development Dan Winters.
"While the games themselves varied, the unifying theme for everyone involved in the competition has been passion. The energy and enthusiasm of the indie community continues to inspire us and we're thrilled to help make their dreams become reality."
Second place in the competition, which was juried by indie game development support network IndieCade, went to multiplayer action release Planet Smashers by Michael Stanton, winning a total of $75,000.
News of the competition winners comes weeks after Activision announced it is to partner with analytics specialist Flurry to launch a publishing initiative for indies, marking an attempt by the publisher to make a serious move on mobile gaming.
