Expanding its hand on both platforms, Gameloft has announced it is to launch 12 of its bestselling games on Windows Phone 8 at the same time as it optimises 10 games for Google's new flagship Android devices the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10.
The firm claims its Windows Phone 8 titles will take advantage of the Xbox features baked into Microsoft's forthcoming mobile OS, such as leaderboards, achievements, and cloud storage.
Going broad
The lineup of games headed to Windows Phone 8 includes Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, Asphalt 7: Heat and N.O.V.A. 3 all of which will support multiplayer modes over Xbox Live.
Gameloft is also optimising ten of its existing titles for Google's expanded Nexus range, with said updates set to be carefully tweaked to take advantage of the Nexus 4's quad core Snapdragon processor and the Nexus 10's 2560x1600 display.
As Google and Microsoft prepare to begin round two of the smartphone wars in earnest, it would seem that Gameloft is hedging its bets ensuring that its titles are available on all major mobile operating systems and visible to as many consumers as possible.
The announcement is also good news for Google and Microsoft respectively - the latter benefitting from an early boost to its platform's app marketplace.
