Like a black hole, the mobile games industry is slowly pulling everything in it, and that includes core web RPG publisher 5th Planet Games.
Best known for its titles such as Dawn of the Dragons, Legacy of a Thousand Suns and Legacy of Heroes - which are available on the likes of Facebook, Kongregate, Kabam and Armor Games - it's now preparing for its mobile assault.
Leading the vanguard, it's selected Rob Carroll as its chief mobile officer.
Previously with monetisation outfit Tapjoy as its director of publishing, Carroll's task is to bring 5th Planet's existing and new IP to mobile devices.
Infinity, and beyond
"5th Planet has a very passionate and dedicated fanbase, and it's exciting to be able to apply my knowledge of the mobile landscape to allow those fans to play their favourite games wherever and whenever they'd like," commented Carroll, who helped launch over 120 iOS and Android games when running Tapjoy's developer fund.
"There's also a giant opportunity to attract a whole new following as well, since there's nothing available on mobile platforms right now quite like 5th Planet's games," he added.
Prior to Tapjoy, Carroll worked for Zynga, Hive 7 and LucasArts, resulting in an impressive softography including Mafia Wars, Vampire Wars, Pirates, YoVille, Knighthood, Youtopia, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
