With 200,000 developers having already tapped into its development platform, Corona has announced the launch of a new free version of its tool designed to bring more indies on board.
The Corona Starter SDK has been unveiled to, in the company's own words, encourage more developers to "take advantage of the app store revolution", allowing smaller studios and hobbyists to build apps for iOS, Android, Kindle Fire and Nook.
Start it up
Support for more platforms is coming soon, the firm claims, with the idea being developers who get a taste for the Starter SDK as it stands now will look to upgrade to one of the paid versions.
"Coronas initial momentum came from the indie community and we want to do as much as possible to further encourage new developers to take up mobile development," said CEO Walter Luh.
"Corona SDK Starter eliminates all barriers in mobile development and were excited to see more developers join the mobile revolution and build amazing experiences."
The unveiling of the new Starter SDK comes a matter of weeks after Corona launched back end support platform Corona Cloud, enabling developers to amongst other things add cross-platform leaderboards to their titles.
