Android virtualisation platform Bluestacks has passed its latest milestone.
Available for Mac and PC (including pre-loads from the likes of Lenovo, Asus and MSI), its App Player software is now on over 10 million devices; what Bluestacks calls 'large screen devices'.
4.2 million of these installations occurred during Q1 2013.
"We're seeing exponential gains in adoption and active usage over the past few months especially," said CEO Rosen Sharma.
"Now we're working on this idea of, how we can take this technology and bring mobile content to other types of devices."
Good for games
Funded to the tune of $15 million from the likes of Intel, Andreessen-Horowitz, Qualcomm, AMD and a bunch of VCs, the software enables you to run any Android app or game on your desktop, laptop or Windows tablet.
There's even been a special version released for Microsoft's Surface.
Sharma points to Bluestacks' deals with games companies such as Halfbrick, HandyGames and Outfit7 as a key reason for its growth.
"Generation M has grown up with mobile games and expect to enjoy those on all platforms. Gaming has emerged as a strong use case for us," he explained.
