In keeping with the timing suggested at GDC 2013, Havok has released its open-source end-to-end mobile 3D game production engine Project Anarchy.
This includes Havok's physics, animation and AI tools, supports iOS, Android and Tizen and is available to download "without commercial restrictions on company size or revenue".
That means it's totally free.
Going where the action is
As head of developer relations Ross O'Dwyer explained Project Anarchy is a bold future-facing move for Havok.
"We know we need to be in mobile. It's where the innovation is happening," he told us in March.
"We want people [in mobile] to be using our tools. We think in time, they will scale up into larger companies and then buy our tools."
In that context, if you want to take your mobile games to PC using Project Anarchy, there is a charge, and you can also buy additional support should you desire.
Otherwise, you can delve into the community thanks to the online support hub, which is full of sample code, Q&As, documentation, training courseware, video tutorials and a - no doubt - very active forum.
Check out all the goodies here.
