After a nine month beta testing phase, the GameBench app is now live on the Google Play store.
It offers Android developers a way to run detailed performance testing right from the handset.
Following in the desktop PC footsteps of Fraps and Afterburner, GameBench provides users with on-device benchmarking statistics that measure battery drain, CPU and GPU usage, and frames-per-second to determine how smoothly your game - and and any updates you distribute - is running, and how to identify any bottlenecks caused by game events.
Testing, testing
Kicking off with a free version of GameBench, positive reviews have prompted the developer to begin work on a premium edition that'll add an FPS overlay, report on touch events, record running temperatures, offer backups of session data and more.
An iOS version is also in the works.
It's worth noting that the app doesn't require your Android device to be rooted, although a one-time PC connection is needed for setup if SuperUser permissions aren't available.
For now you can grab GameBench over on Google Play.
