Apple is expected to have generated total lifetime revenues of over $1 trillion from its iOS devices during 2017, according to Asymco.
The $1 trillion figure is broken down to $980 billion of product sales and $100 billion for services. Asymco suggests that this is largely due to the overwhelming success of the iPhone.
The firm predicts that the iPhone alone will see 1.2 billion lifetime unit sales during 2017. The entire iOS suite of devices is expected to achieve 1.75 billion total unit sales combined this year.
Not another big bang
"As we look toward the second decade of the iPhone, the expectation isn’t one of another 'big bang' but a process of continuous improvement," wrote analyst Horace Dediu.
"The market is nearing saturation so the goals must be to capture more switchers from Android."
While Apple is obviously seeing success from iOS, its developers are too. The company revealed that its developers generated $20 billion in revenues in 2016 alone.
