Retail giant Amazon has officially acquired UK games backend-as-a-service provider GameSparks.
It was already reported back in July 2017 that a deal worth $10 million had been completed.
The Dublin-based company provides developers with a cloud-based development platform to power online game experiences. It has worked with more than 10,000 developers including Ubisoft, Square Enix and Hutch Games across platforms, including mobile.
Light a spark
“We’re excited to announce that GameSparks has been acquired by Amazon,” GameSparks stated in a post confirming the acquisition.
“GameSparks has long shared Amazon’s passion for helping developers create amazing gaming experiences, so it’s a natural fit. Being part of Amazon means we’ll continue to grow the service, as well as explore new ways to unlock the power of Amazon to help you build, operate, and monetise your games.”
Amazon currently holds a number of games-related tech and services which includes gaming broadcasting service Twitch and development toolset in Lumberyard.
