War Child UK and its US-based partner Children in Conflict have launched a retro games-inspired campaign called Re-Play to raise awareness for children affected by conflict.
The initiative hopes to encourage gamers to reconnect with titles from their childhood through a series of events and downloadable content.
Mobile users can download Social Point’s RPG title Monster Legends for free as part of the campaign and can purchase a $0.99 gem pack called War Child Solidarity Pack to unlock exclusive retro content April 12th to 19th.
Kongregate’s retro-inspired game Tinker Island will also be taking part in the campaign and will donate 100 per cent of its revenue made on April 15th only.
Re-play
Ustwo and Social Point have also designed t-shirts for the campaign based on their titles Monument Valley and Monster Legends, which will be available from the GameOn tee online store until May 3rd. Proceeds from the sales will go to War Child UK.
“RE-PLAY is a campaign about reflecting on childhood and reinforcing the idea that every child has the right to play,” said War Child UK gaming partnerships manager Wayne Emanuel.
“For hundreds of thousands of children forced to live in or flee conflict, playing and its link to developing a child’s identity, creative thinking and problem solving, is often overlooked.”
