Rovio prepares for Angry Birds animation with appointment of ex-Fox exec Andrew Stalbow
Continuing its roll up of senior executives, Rovio has bolstered its US team with the appointment of Andrew Stalbow as its North American general manager.

Unsurprisingly, he will work on growing the Angry Birds franchise, finding new partnerships and distribution channels for the forthcoming animated content, as well as supporting the launch of new IP.

Beyond Rio

Previously senior vice president of mobile at Fox Digital, where he worked with Rovio over Angry Birds Rio, Stalbow has worked at Hutchison 3G UK and Vodafone, also being vice president, international at Fox Mobile while based in London.

He was also responsible for app publishing and video licensing for Fox properties such as Glee, Avatar and The Simpsons.

"Working with Andrew on Angry Birds Rio was an excellent partnership," said Mikael Hed, Rovio's CEO.

"We're very excited to have him on board for our continued expansion in North America and in the entertainment industry in particular."

Recently, Rovio has hired David Maisel, former chairman of Marvel Studios as a special advisor, and acquired Finnish animation studio Kombo.
