Deep Silver plans major move on mobile market
A long time player on PC and multiple consoles, Deep Silver has announced its intention to move on the mobile market in the coming months, investing in what it dubs its "new strategic direction".

The Koch Media owned publisher is best known for the likes of Dead Island and S.T.A.L.K.E.R - as well as numerous TV licenses – and recently made the headlines by acquiring Saints Row developer Volition from the ashes of THQ.

Now, however, it's planning to make its mark on mobile, with "several job openings" set to be made available in the coming months.

Wherever, whenever

"Nowadays, gaming can play a role anywhere and anytime... at home or on the go," said Koch Media and Deep Silver CEO Klemens Kundratitz.

"It is therefore only logical to extend the brand universe of a game to different devices. Having a brand strategy that is multi-platform - including mobile - offers a full, all-round experience that enables players to enjoy different aspects of a game world wherever and whenever they want."

Commercial director Menno van der Bil added that Deep Silver's cross-platform approach will enable it to promote its games "from new angles", as "we will have a whole group of games connected to a brand on different platforms."

"Players of our upcoming mobile titles can expect the same level of originality and innovativeness that they already know from our existing products," he concluded.

No set titles, or indeed platforms, have yet been announced.
