Online gaming for the iPhone is something developers are relentlessly chasing, with varying degrees of success. Some games are looking to provide full MMO-style gameplay, while other like the movie tie-in Fast & Furious make use of smaller online features.
Firemint has added a very unique online function to the latest racing game adapted from the film franchise, which has proven massively popular in the games inaugural weekend. Players are encouraged to sign up for a free Cloudcell account from within the game, which then allows users to upload videos of their virtual driving prowess directly to YouTube.
Fast & Furious publisher I-play has reported that over 3,000 registered users have taken their burning rubber to YouTube over the last couple of days, demonstrating a huge user appeal for unique and, most importantly, social online connectivity in their iPhone games.
