With rivals Plus+ and OpenFeint focusing on the emerging free-to-play market, Scoreloop has revealed its take on the business model.
The new version of its Core SDK, now available for developers, adds support for downloadable content and in-game currencies, both in terms of client game code and global server infrastructure.
Scoreloop's SDK is a cross-platform white-label solution for iPhone, iPad and Android, and integrates directly into a game's user interface without overtly taking players into a separate platform as happens with Plus+ and OpenFeint.
One of the first games to support the new features will be FDG Entertainment's Parachute Panic HD, which goes live for iPad (and iPhone) on 3rd April.
It includes new theme customisations that are purchased using in-game tokens, which you win via challenges. Neatly, these are converted from Coins, which are Scoreloop's universal currency available for all games that use the network. 10 Coins cost 1.
Scoreloop's technology is freely available with the company taking a share of such additional revenue streams.

"We're thrilled by the feedback coming in from the first developers with early access to our new SDK," said Marc Gumpinger, Scoreloop CEO.
"It's exactly what they've been looking for: a set of creative tools that improve the visibility of their games; connect their users for increased engagement; and drive revenues through exposure to millions of users.
"And it's all under their control, so they don't have to give up their most precious asset - their players - to a branded and closed platform."
"Parachute Panic has been downloaded over 4 million times and we believe a big part of that was its unique scribble theme. With Scoreloop powering our new downloadable themes and in-game currency, we're taking it to the next level," said Thomas Kern of FDG Entertainment.
"Users can now unlock new themes by playing challenges against their friends. Scoreloop's servers let us add more themes anytime, and the in-game currency helps us drive activity we can monetise in a flexible and compatible way."
