HTC sees Q1 FY12 revenues slip 35% down to $2.3 billion
Taiwanese phone manufacturer HTC (TWSE: 2498) has announced its unaudited financials for Q1 2012, the three months ending 31 March.

Revenues were NT$67.8 billion (around $2.3 billion), down 35 percent year-on-year.

Net income after tax was NT$4.5 billion (around $150 million), compared to $513 million in Q1 2011.

It didn't break out shipment figures, but analyst Horace Dediu reckons, on this basis, that HTC sold around 7 million phones during the quarter.

Slip sliding

From a peak of $34 billion a year ago, HTC's market capitalisation has fallen to $16 billion as it failed to refresh its Android phones quickly enough, especially compared to Samsung's Galaxy S range.

However, at Mobile World Congress, it revealed its 1.5 GHz dual-core Tegra 3, Android 4.0-powered HTC One series, which it hopes will regain it some of the lost ground.
