Proving zombies are just as easy a sell to investors as they are gamers, Canadian studio Massive Damage has accrued $325,000 in an angel investment round.
Led by Boston's Apricot Capital and Toronto's Grassfed Capital, the startup's fresh funds will be to boost its recently released zombie filled location-based iOS game, Please Stay Calm.
Angelic round up
The game itself, which is currently exclusive to the App Store in Canada, has logged more than 120,000 check-ins at locations across the country a solid start ahead of its US release on October 13.
"We believe location is a powerful context for gaming. People have a strong affinity for their favorite places and our game taps into that real world connection," said CEO and co-founder Ken Seto.
"Our early numbers indicate an extremely high level of engagement from our players, proving the market potential of location-based gaming."
Other investors involved include Ty Danco and Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke. More info on Please Stay Calm can be found on the game's website.
