Motorola’s first Android powered handset leaked

Verizon onboard to deliver feature rich Google phone

Motorola’s first Android powered handset leaked
A leaked picture has surfaced on the internet of the Mororola Calgary - a feature rich device that the phone manufacturer is apparently providing to US carrier Verizon.

In the picture, the Calgary sports what looks like a customised edition of the Google operating system, along with a stylish, angular metallic housing and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Verizon is going hell for leather at the moment, looking to take on its bitter rival and iPhone license holder AT&T, with rumours of it talking with both Apple and Microsoft about smartphone and media pad devices.

This new Motorola Calgary fits in perfectly with Verizon’s clear intention to position itself as the smartphone king, with reports of it hiring programmers to tweak its service to better accommodate the new types of connected phone operating systems.

Details are sparse, but unconfirmed reports suggest the Calgary will be on the market within 2009.

Yes. Spanner's his real name. And, yes, he's heard that joke before.
