Train2Game's courses in art and animation, game design, and development have been approved by the UK's leading vocational education organisation, City & Guilds.
The three courses now have full City & Guilds qualification status, with the new accreditation coming into effect in time for all students enrolled after 1 March.
New generation
The organisation's courses are designed to equip students with skills specific to the videogames industry, with the body supported by UK trade association TIGA.
The new accreditation has been described as "a significant milestone" for the online college by Train2Game principal Myra Smallman, who also described the courses' new status as a "testament to their quality".
"We are fully committed to equipping our students with the very best skills and experience to help them fulfil their dreams of a career in the videogames industry, and this accreditation is a significant milestone in realising this goal," she added.
Perfect match
For City & Guilds' part, portfolio manager for ICT Ken Gaines said Train2Game offered a "natural fit" with its own approach to vocational education.
"We were impressed with Train2Games blended learning program and their huge emphasis on helping people gain employment on completion of their training," added Gaines.
"We hope that this industry-oriented programme, backed by a City & Guilds qualification will help attract a new generation of talent to drive the videogames industry in the UK to new heights."
Train2Game is currently involved in a scheme with Epic Games, with the two parties coming together on Make Something Unreal Live the final of the two firm's Unreal Engine game jam.
