PlayPhone has announced its added support for Windows Phone to its social gaming network, marking what the company claims is a "milestone" for the industry.
The firm's free SDK already supports both iOS and Android as well as HTML5 and Unity, making in the company's own words PlayPhone the first mobile social tool to be integrated across "all major platforms".
Rapid rise
"Microsoft and its partners have put extensive resources toward the rapid adoption of the Windows Phone 7 platform worldwide," said SVP and GM Anders Evju.
"With the integration of WP7 into the PlayPhone SGN SDK, PlayPhone is making it easy for mobile developers working on WP7 platform to integrate games into one of the largest evolving gaming destinations."
PlayPhone claims to boast 35 million registered users across platforms, and stands as one of the first social gaming networks to offer its services on Windows Phone, where Microsoft's built-in Xbox Live platform serves as the standard.
Window of opportunity
Indeed, it's the fact that third party platforms have, to date, held back from offering support for Microsoft's OS that made reaching out to Windows Phone even more of an opportunity for PlayPhone.
"PlayPhone is committed to cross-platform mobile gaming," concluded Evju.
"Gamers on all leading mobile devices Android, iPhone, iPad, WP7, etc. can jump into the PlayPhone SGN to play some of the best games out there with their friends. We call this the PlayPhone advantage."
