Scoreloop partners with Spring House to serve up cross-platform social gaming

Facebook on-the-go to debut in Taiwan

Scoreloop partners with Spring House to serve up cross-platform social gaming
Scoreloop's decision to launch its platform on Android at the end of 2009 seemed like incredible foresight when, just months later, Apple revealed Game Center to the world.

Indeed, it's Scoreloop's efforts to link up players whatever platform they happen to be playing on – integration with bada, BREW, Symbian, webOS and Windows Phone also announced in June – that has helped cement its position in the already crowded social gaming network set-up.

Its next move, however, is being billed as its biggest yet, with Scoreloop announcing it's set to serve up – in its own words – a Game Center like solution for carriers, OEMs and publishers alike.

Networking knowhow

The new service, which comes as a result of a partnership with Spring House Entertainment in Taiwan, will offer developers a cross-platform infrastructure with a social bent.

In crude terms, it appears Scoreloop will bring its network to the table, while Spring House will attempt to shape it to fit the social gaming model already practiced by the likes of Facebook.

The idea is to serve up a similarly ambitious platform exclusively pitched at the mobile market.

"We're helping both developers and operators increase application downloads through social discovery," Scoreloop CEO Marc Gumpinger said of the deal.

"The model with Sping House is a blueprint for other operators.

"Our cross platform approach allows users to interact with all of their friends, regardless of device and operating system. This extends access to a user’s friends and fights churn."

Focus on Facebook

Indeed, the new platform is set to leverage the kind of feature-set users of existing networks like Scoreloop will be familiar with – leaderboards, profiles, achievements, challenges, virtual goods and currencies all on board.

"We're uniting users with one social gaming platform," added Spring House Entertainment EVP Leo Lee.

"Scoreloop's solution surpasses similar initiatives such as Apple's Game Center both in features and reach, as they let us bring this to users across multiple platforms. We're thrilled to bring these features to developers and users alike."

Making its debut in Spring House's home territory of Taiwan, the two parties have confirmed that three developers – Dreamsky Technology, Boolba Labs and Goodteam Studio – are already on board, with Scoreloop suggesting it's set to reveal similar deals in the near future.
