The company responsible for the massively popular iPhone music/rhythm series Tap Tap Revenge, Tapulous, has announced a new deal with Universal Music Group to make branded games for a host of its artists.
The deal will include around six artist-branded games over the next 12 months, kicking off in July with a 14-track Lady Gaga title. Future games will apparently include branded titles from the likes of Eminem and the Black Eyed Peas.
What's more interesting is that the new range of branded Tap Tap games will leverage the micro-transaction feature of the iPhone's 3.0 software update (coming June 17th) and enable players to purchase tracks in-game for $0.50.
Tapulous has also stated that this new revenue model will help make the company which has only really seen success from its free games so far reach a point where it becomes profitable. It's also planning a whole new form of music/rhythm game due for launch in the autumn.
