iPhone 2.2 update on the way

May spur more accurate ratings for App Store games

iPhone 2.2 update on the way

VentureBeat is reporting that the next iPhone software update will be released on 21st November.

Version 2.2 is expected to have a range of improvements, many of them not games-focused - for example Google Street View, podcast downloads and a tweaked Safari browser.

However, the story also suggests that v2.2 will include changes to the way users rate applications (including games) - and that specifically, they'll be prompted to submit ratings, rather than having to go back to the App Store to do this.

Developers will welcome this if true, as it should provide more accurate ratings for games. Apple has already fixed one snafu in its ratings system by stopping users from reviewing games if they hadn't bought them.

We're hoping that better ratings will also mean an App Store upgrade to make it easier to sort games by user rating to find the good stuff.
