The latest stats published in the App Annie Index suggest Japanese and Korean games developers are dominating the Google Play store when it comes to monthly revenue.
Of the games topping the monthly revenue charts on Google's marketplace, the firm found six of them were developed by South Korean studios.
A further three were from Japanese developers, including GungHo Online's Puzzle & Dragons.
Crowning the king
The one exception to this Asian dominance, reported App Annie, was British studio King.com.
Its casual hit Candy Crush Saga was the tenth top grossing game on Google Play during the month of January 2013.
The other garden
US studios are still the dominant money-makers on iOS, although Puzzle & Dragons was also the App Store's top grossing game for January 2013, cementing its status as the most lucrative mobile game in the world right now.
App Annie pegs Supercell's Clash of Clans as the second highest earner on iOS, while King.com's Candy Crush Saga is at number three.
Supercell's Hay Day is also a top grossing title, listed at number four in App Annie's rankings.
The only other studio with two games in the top grossing charts is the San Francisco-based Kabam. Kingdoms of Camelot was the eighth highest earning iOS game in January 2013, while The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth was tenth.
