Evolution or revolution? When you're market leader, everyone looks to you to do just that lead.
Problem is, when so many consumers and, more importantly, livelihoods depend on your business, attempting to rock the boat isn't always the wisest move. For developers, more of the same isn't necessarily a bad thing.
We caught up with Halfbrick CMO Phil Larsen to find out why he's all for iPhone 5 - Apple's sexy bit of refinement.
Pocket Gamer: Broadly speaking, what did you make of Apple's iPhone 5 unveiling?
Phil Larsen: It seems to be the ultimate in refinement - faster, lighter, sexier.
I definitely felt the confidence in the unveiling from the Apple side which was a tad subdued when the 4S was announced.
I say bring it on.
Specifically from a developer's point of view, what features excite you the most about the new iPhone?
The faster networking appears to be one of the hottest features for developers.
Games with seamless connection between friends are incredibly popular, so the iPhone 5 can make this more fluid for iOS gamers
Is there anything missing from the device?
It's still early, but from what I can tell, there doesn't seem to be any dedicated NFC tech.
It's still early days for the adoption of this kind of connectivity, and I expect when it arrives in an Apple product, that adoption will skyrocket.
What kind of impact do you think it will have on the market. Is this a guaranteed best seller?
Of course. Perhaps even more so than the 4S. I have actually noticed a lot of friends still with devices as old as the 3GS, all who will pick up the 5.
Thanks to Phil for his time.
