Steel Media appoints ex-Future Publishing EIC Dave Bradley as Operations Manager

Telling you all what we've known for the past two weeks, Steel Media has announced that Dave Bradley has joined as Operations Manager.

Bradley has worked as a journalist, manager, and editor across 19 years at Future Publishing, ending up as Group Editor-in-Chief, during which time he oversaw the entertainment portfolio, including SFX, Total Film, and Comic Heroes.

He was also responsible for bringing TV and film to GamesRadar, as well as helping redesign Official Xbox Magazine.

A natural break

"Last year was a busy year for me at Future. There was a natural break for me and I'm excited to have found my next challenge in the form of Steel Media," said Bradley.

"I've watched the growth of Pocket Gamer right from the beginning and it covers an area of gaming that few companies have managed to embrace, let alone succeed in."

"Pocket Gamer has always been ahead of the curve. I like their enthusiasm, and they were there from the start of the smartphone era."

"It saw the early significance of free-to-play games, and understands the impact that VR’s having on our industry."

Global perspective

Bradley will be overseeing the general day-to-day operations of the editorial output, as well as working with the team to relaunch Pocket Gamer in 2016.

"Not only does mobile represent the largest sector of the $100 billion video games industry (and accelerating away each year), but it's also unarguably the most dynamic," said Chris James, Managing Director for Steel Media.

"This year Steel Media celebrated 10 years of covering mobile games on Pocket Gamer and PG.Biz with a genuinely global perspective of running conferences and networking events across Asia, Europe and the US."

Embracing the new

"We have a willingness to embrace new technology and trends such as our AppSpy YouTube 'influencer' channel and the adoption of VR formats, so we’re delighted have Dave on board to help guide that."

"A media professional who knows what it takes, his experience will help us expand our events, operations, and editorial over the next 12 months and beyond, so we’re excited to have him with us."

Bradley will also work with the team to grow, attend, and host events globally, starting with Pocket Gamer Connects Vancouver 2016, which will be held on June 28-29.
