Mojang’s Daniel Kaplan joins Coffee Stain Publishing

Takes on role of Business Developer

Mojang’s Daniel Kaplan joins Coffee Stain Publishing

Mojang’s first ever employee Danial Kaplan has left the studio after nearly seven years years to join Coffee Stain Publishing.

Kaplan was a key driver in Minecraft’s development and growth and worked in various roles at Mojang from Production Director to Business Developer.

At the Goat Simulator developer Coffee Stain, Kaplan will take up the role of Business Developer and will work on new games from its publishing arm.

"Exciting moment"

“With our ambitious plans for Coffee Stain Publishing, we had to find the right people, and that’s not always easy," said Coffee Stain Studios CEO Anton Westbergh.

"I’ve known Kaplan for 10 years (we even shared a bed once at Gamescom), and I’m excited to have him join us. Kaplan is great, and shares our core game philosophies; we can’t wait to have him apply his magic on our products.”

Kaplan added: “I’ve been a fan of Coffee Stain’s games for years now, and moving to the team behind one of the weirdest titles in the world is an exciting moment for me.

“I’ve been drawn to making and thinking about games for as long as I can remember, and I’m really looking forward to work with a lot of different games at Coffee Stain. I’m very excited.”

As well as working at Mojang, Kaplan also co-founded Ludosity Interactive, which has developed a number of games for mobile, PC and console.
