Google may start allowing Android developers to charge for their games and applications on Android Market as soon as this week, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Interestingly, the claim was somewhat buried at the bottom of a completely different feature on Microsoft's plans for Windows Mobile.
"This week Google will start allowing developers to charge for software sold through the Android Market, according to people familiar with the matter," says the WSJ report.
If true, the move is likely to spur a significant increase in the number of games available on Android Market. Several of the larger publishers, including EA Mobile and Gameloft, have been waiting to launch Android games on Google's store until they can charge for them.
Some publishers, such as Glu Mobile and Namco Networks, chose to go early with free games.
