Games companies twigged some time ago that if you mention a few rival products on a game's App Store listing, your game will show up when people search for the others.
But Digital Chocolate is taking the tactic to new heights (or lows) with Chocolate Shop Frenzy. Here's the full list of other game titles it manages to squeeze into its App Store listing:
Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Super Mario, Cooking Mama, Wedding Dash, Mystery Case Files, Boom Bloxx, Tetris, Spore, Super Monkey Ball, Topple, Bejeweled, Diner Dash, Guitar Rock Tour, Scrabble, Tap Tap Revenge, Texas Hold'em, Hero of Sparta, Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D, Sally's Salon, Smarter than a 5th Grader.
It's legitimate gaming of the App Store's search mechanism, of course. But excellent as Chocolate Shop Frenzy is, recommending it to fans of Hero of Sparta is something of a stretch.
Oh, but there's more:
"What we listened to and watched during game development: Lady GaGa, Kelly Clarkson, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Jason Mraz, High School Musical, My Best Friend's Girl, Nights in Rodanthe and Eagle Eye."
On one level, we applaud DChoc for finding a cheeky way to ensure its games show up in as many popular search results as possible.
On another, if they listened or watched to High School Musical while developing Chocolate Shop Frenzy, we'll eat our iPhone...
