In an effort to turn T-Mobile's fortunes around, the new UK managing director Richard Moat is expected to reveal plans to nab the iPhone from O2.
The service provider has fallen drastically behind O2 recently, which is no surprise considering its iPhone exclusivity contract, but is also lagging behind its closest rivals Orange and Vodafone. Much of T-Mobile's woes are being put down to a lack of attractive, feature-rich handsets - a problem that has caused similar perturbing chest pains for Sony Ericsson.
Landing a contract with Apple to supply the iPhone to the UK could turn the fortunes of any company around, so it's no bad thing to see Moat setting his sights so high.
O2's exclusivity contract for the iPhone doesn't have too much longer to run, though it's also snapped up the new Palm Pre. iPhone or not, it's still likely to remain the major mobile player in the foreseeable future.
