Android development seems to have slowed to a crawl, at least as far as smartphones go. In an effort to encourage developers and aspiring application designers to take more of an interest in its HTC Magic handset, Vodafone has announced a new competition offering a £1000 cash prize and one of its Android powered handsets.
All that's required is to come up with an idea for a killer application, which Vodafone can then commission and place on the Google Android Marketplace. Ten runners up will also land themselves an HTC Magic handset.
The competition appears to be part of a new push Vodafone is giving the Android platform on its official HTC Magic website, where users can find information about applications, both in their favourites and chat about the device and Google's platform in the forums.
To submit your idea head on over to the official competition page now and fill in the short submissions form before the closing date of 20th September.
