Long anticipated, the latest point release of the social gaming network technology OpenFeint - which apparently is now used by six million iPhone gamers - was released last night.
Perhaps the most obvious change is the simplified user interface. This is hooks into changes in terms of how developers can interact with their game's community. These include forums and the option for automatic email updates.
Cross-title promotional tools have been overhauled so developers can highlight other games from with OpenFeint. There are also more options in terms of upselling to paid content from free games.
The technology now supports real-time presence so you can see if any of your friends are online playing any OpenFeint-enabled title. And leaderboards can be viewed in terms of geolocation using Google Maps
Finally, you can share saved games between different iDevices; particularly useful if and when you're upgrading your iPhone.
The OpenFeint SDK 2.4 is available for download at the OpenFeint developers website.
