Despite the shadow of iSlate, Amazon tries to pull in game developers for Kindle
Quite how a monochrome e-book reader is going to compete with Apple's blazing new tablet remains to be seen, but Amazon certainly seems keen to encouraging game developers to take a look at Kindle.

Over on Business Week, Digital Chocolate's Trip Hawkins recalls getting an email about the initiative last year, while iPhone social publisher SGN is also listed among those companies said to be considering developing content for the devices.

Mobile publisher Sonic Boom has been confirmed as making word games for Kindle.

"The way we've looked at it so far, there are a million of these devices out there and the installed base seems to be growing quickly," says its CEO Josh Grant.

PopCap's Andrew Stein was more circumspect however suggesting that Amazon would have to release a more powerful device if it wanted to see the release of games such as Peggle and Bejeweled.
