Brazilian games and edutainment developer MusiGames has raised its first investment round of $1.5 million from Criatec Fund, the largest Brazilian seed capital group.
The investment also includes R&D grants from the Brazilian innovation agencies FINEP / Facepe and CNPq.
MusiGames will use the money to expand its range of music titles, with eight planned for 2010.
"The games we're working on right now will feature the best pop, rock and dance artists," said Americo Amorim, CEO of MusiGames.
"We're focusing on music games, but trying to do different things compared to the likes of Tap Tap Revenge. For example, we're exploring how to make the most of a user's iTunes library and we'll be releasing a game based around this concept next month."
As well as iPhone, on which its titles such as Drums Challenge have gained success in the US App Store, MusiGames is also looking to extend into other mobile markets.
It's already released one title for Android and will be planning further releases as number of handsets expands.
Other options include iPad, and portable consoles.
"We're looking to bring some of our iPhone games such as Drums Challenge and DJ Nights to DSiWare," Amorim reveals.
