Augmented reality specialist metaio has announced the release of its software development kit Unifeye.
The mobile platform enables developers and marketers alike to take advantage of AR techniques within their apps.
Unifeye's release will likely spice things up within the sector, with metaio claiming it enables studios to implement 3D object tracking, GPS tracking, video support and web-based rendering directly into their apps with minimal effort.
Even more reality
"With the Unifeye Mobile SDK software it is possible to create fascinating marketing experiences, intuitive information design, mobile augmented reality games or innovative retail solutions," the company claims.
"The professional toolbox is supporting all major mobile platforms and features the latest image recognition technologies, 3D rendering for animations with real time interaction and optimised components for mobile hardware."
Metaio demonstrated the Android SDK (iPhone, WinMo and Symbian are already supported) during Sony Ericsson's Creation Day' at Mobile World Congress; the firm building upon its experience working with the likes of BMW and Siemens over the last few months.
It's also produced a promotional video explaining more about how the technology works.
