Unlike the new pure breed iPhone social gaming networks, Exit Games comes from a more hardcore online multiplayer background.
It's been supporting mobile devices for years however, including iPhone and Android, so the news that it's adding iPad to its list of supported devices makes complete sense.
Its technology comes in two flavours, Neutron and Photon.
Neutron is a managed service offering developers a broad variety of connectivity features out-of-the-box, while Photon is a multiplayer development framework obtainable as licensed software starting at $100.
As well as iPad, both products come with SDKs for Unity3d, Flash, iPhone, Android, Silverlight, .NET, Windows, J2SE, J2ME, and Brew.
"We are very happy to be the first company offering online game engines for the iPad," said Chris Wegmann, CTO of Exit Games. "The iPad opens a fascinating new product genre and we are sure it provides the same opportunities for developers as the iPhone did and still does."
You can find out more details, including pricing information on the Exit Games website.
