During GDC 2010, I met up with Dave Castelnuovo, one half of Bolt Creative, to talk about how its plans to extend Pocket God.
As part of that discussion, we covered how in-app purchases had worked for the game, which has been downloaded over 2.3 million times.
The figure we came up with during the interview was 140,000. Now however Dave has checked the maths and come up with a new total - 240,000.
This raises the accumulated conversion rate across all downloads and IAP sales to ten percent, with a peak per update conversion rate of around four percent.
It's certainly impressive stuff when you consider that Pocket God's audience is generally teenaged boys, who are thought to be less likely to purchase additional content.
Of course, the fact that Pocket God has been updated 31 times for free, and that IAP packs are marketed as a way of supporting further updates, is sure to encourage take-up.
