The latest report by market research specialist DFC Intelligence looks at the virtual transactions market, while also investigating the download behaviour of 640 iPhone and iPod touch owners
The firm concludes more than 60 percent of users purchased games within the past 3 months.
The results form part of a larger report looking at how the sale of in-game virtual goods is fairing across the industry - Dean Takahashi revealing portions of it in a post on VentureBeat.
Budget conscious
According to the firm's App Store specific results, almost 40 percent of those surveyed (DFC taking in consumers from Europe, the UK and the US), didn't buy anything on their iDevices.
European consumers are the most reluctant to open their digital wallets, with just over 49 percent having steered clear of paid downloads.
Spending spree
However, on the whole, the majority of those surveyed spent somewhere between more than $1 and less than $39.
While the most popular category is between more than $0 and $5, just under 39 percent of those questioned spent upwards of $0 to $19 in the three month period.
Overall, UK consumers are apparently the most free and easy with their cash, only 34.25 percent having held off making any in-game purchases during the time surveyed.
