Engaging with the mass market

Game Center's ease of use is vital, says MiniSquadron's Tak Fung
Following Apple's reveal of its Game Center social gaming network for iDevices, developers seem pleased that the company is finally stepping up to the plate with its own unified solution for matchmatching, leaderboards and achievements.

Or as it's being called Apple's Xbox Live.

"What's really important is the ease of use," said Tak Fung, developer of MiniSquadron and Fox vs. Ducks.

"There's a familiarity with the Apple brand that encompasses the mass market who don't have a clue about OpenFeint and Plus+.

"It also means Apple now has the ability to leverage social networking for other future uses. And that's really exciting."
