Although Apple's App Store tends to dominate the headlines, Nokia's Ovi Store seems to be proving a popular little platform for developers too.
As such, the news that Digital Chocolate's library of Ovi titles has just surpassed 4 million downloads will go some way to proving the marketplace's credentials as a viable platform for app developers.
Penguin party time
To celebrate this milestone, the publisher has planned a European wide campaign in conjunction with Nokia.
Users in 24 countries across the continent - including the UK - will be able to download five Digital Chocolate titles between April and May for free.
The five titles on offer represent some of the publisher's most recognised franchises, too, including Tower Bloxx: New York, Rollercoast Rush Revolution: 99 Tracks, Crazy Penguin Party, Nightclub Fever and Dictator Defense.
"We are excited about the continuous growth of the Ovi Store, and the opportunities it creates for global mass-market content distribution," said Digital Chocolate CEO Trip Hawkins.
"Digital Chocolate will be working to provide more value to consumers, and introducing innovative new ways to monetise on Nokia's Ovi Store."
Viral infection
The publisher has also committed to creating an Ovi customised online teaser for three of the campaign games.
These web versions can be played without charge across what Digital Chocolate has confirmed as numerous casual gaming sites, direct links to pages on the Ovi Store naturally included.
The Facebook version of Tower Bloxx, which the publisher claims has already been played by millions, will form part of the wider viral campaign too.
Tight relationship
"Digital Chocolate makes highly addictive games that play very well across a wide range of Nokia devices, allowing it to reach millions of users thanks to the worldwide reach of Ovi Store, which currently has registered users from over 180 countries," added Nokia's VP and global head of media, Marco Argenti.
"Gaming is one of the strongest content categories in most of our markets, and as Ovi Stores selection continues to grow and we add more Digital Chocolate franchises, well further democratise games and mobile applications for Nokia users around the world."
To further cement the relationship between the two parties, Digital Chocolate has confirmed it will bring Jurassic 3D Rollercoaster Rush to the Maemo based Nokia N900 in the near future.
