Demonstrating that even big companies aren't switched on when it comes to handling social features, there's been an interesting tweet from Gameloft.
It concerns its forthcoming Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction game - due next week.
From an anonymous tweeter, it says
"Since many of you asked for Gameloft LIVE in Splinter Cell Conviction I begged the team to add it, and they did :) Prepare for some trophies."
Whose idea?
Of course, the good news is the game will feature Gameloft's own social networking technology (LIVE).
But the surprise surely is it would consider releasing a high profile title such as Splinter Cell: Conviction without something as core as a social platform and the ability to unlock trophies.
And that it was only included because the fanbase requested it.
It just underlines how big publishers on iPhone such as Gameloft and EA Mobile have yet to grasp the important of social interactivity, despite the availability of free thirdparty technology such as OpenFeint, Scoreloop and Plus+.
Presumably the eventual release of Apple's Game Center platform will force everyone to embrace this.
